Utah poets featured on 90.9 FM KRCL’s Radioactive – 6pm every night this week!

To help celebrate poetry month, KRCL is featuring a different Utah poet every day this week on their Radioactive public affairs program at 6pm on weekdays. Specifically, these poets are Utah county poets and members of the local poetry group Rock Canyon Poets. Tune in for National Poetry Month announcements and to hear the poets read one of their original poems.

Utah High School Poetry Slam State Championship–Fri. April 20, 2018 at Copper Hills HS

This year’s event, which will be part of the 4th Annual Grizzly Invitational, the Utah High School Poetry Slam State Championship, will feature writing workshops from well-known poets and spoken-word artists Ashlee Haze, Good Ghost Bill, and Olivia Gatwood. These exceptional writers have toured both the country and the world sharing their art as poets and educators.

During the evening, starting at 5 p.m., Copper Hills Slam will be hosting the 4th Annual Grizzly Invitational, a multi-school poetry slam competition. Hosted by local poet Debbie Higham Wood, and judged by both the Rock Canyon Poets & Wasatch Wordsmiths, the competition will feature eight schools, four rounds of performance poetry, and 32 talented, teen poets battling for the title of Grizzly Slam Champions. The slam event will also include short features in between rounds by our visiting poets.
