Rock Canyon Poets and Pioneer Book are please to present Utah favorite Laura Stott!
Sister, mentor, traveler, and poet, teacher, mother. Laura Stott comes and goes in many forms, and each walk of life shapes the way her eye glimpses the world through her words. This upcoming June 13th, Tuesday evening from 6:30pm-8:00pm, Ms. Stott will travel through Pioneer Book as the Rock Canyon Poets host a night of conversation and poetry.
She is an accomplished author with years of experience as a self-sufficient writer. After she earned her MFA in creative writing in 2004, she spent almost a decade’s worth of summers in Skagway, Alaska, traveling back and forth across the continent. Migration, travel, and change echo throughout her debut title, In the Museum of Coming and Going.
“It’s a heart with peace beating at its center as the person around it moves through the world’s chaos,” reads one review, “its feral cats screaming.”
Her latest project is a poetry series titled “Blue Nude”—a work-in-progress collaboration with her visual artist sister, Katheryn Stott.
As well as an English Instructor for Weber State, Ms. Stott also currently serves as a board member of Writers@Work. W@W promotes independent writers of all skill levels. For over thirty years, they’ve held conferences in Utah to help creatives connect to a national community of publishers and editors and agents. Stott visits Pioneer Book as a guest of the Rock Canyon Poets. The reading and open mic are open to the general public.
