Poetry Happens – Utah July 2018 events and calls

Welcome to the new Utah monthly edition of Poetry Happens, brought to you by Rock Canyon Poets. Each edition will include poetry happenings and other announcements coming up in Utah, with highlights specifically for Utah county. And tune in on KRCL Radioactive the first Wednesday of every month for announcements and feature poet reading!


Rock Canyon Poets poetry reading & open mic every 2nd Tuesday at Pioneer Book in Provo, this month on July 10, 2018 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm, featuring Michael McLane!

Every Thursday – Speak for Yourself spoken word open mic at Enliten Cafe in Provo, at 7:30 pm


Sugar Slam, every 2nd Thursday at Watchtower Cafe in SLC, and this month features Ashley Finley, Thursday, July 12 at 8 PM.

Salt City Slam, every last Monday of the month at Even Stevens in Downtown SLC, July 30, Open mic at 7:00. Feature at 7:30. Slam at 8:00.

Poetry Open Mic every 2nd Thursday at the Glendale Branch Library in SLC, July 12 at 7 PM.

Poet, essayist, and musician Mark Doherty will be reading at The Printed Garden in Sandy to celebrate the release of his new collection of poetry, Walking Natural Pathways on July 12 at 7 PM.

Booked on 25th and Ogden Pride are excited to be hosting the 3rd Annual Ogden Pride Poetry Contest. The contest has two rounds — on July 14th and July 21st. The first round will be from 3 to 5 p.m. at Booked on 25th.

Helicon West Summer open mic for poets and writers, Thursday, July 26 from 7 – 9 PM at Logan Library.

Open Mic Poetry Jam at the St. George Museum, Thursday, July 26, from 7 – 8 PM.
